  General Notes:

All a great theory but wrong I think! There is a George "Furton", 30, ag lab, born Denby living in Fulstone with wife Fanny. This would be Fanny Armitage and it looks like George died in 1854 as Fanny remarried to John Copley in 1856. Could be checked with 1849 marriage but looks pretty certain. So the following can be ignored (but then again who is George b 1823?).

The only candidate I can find on ancestry.com is a George Turton born about 1823/24 in Skelmanthorpe living in Almondbury in 1851.

On the negative side the age doesn't quite fit and although Skelmanthorpe is 1 or 2 kilometres to the north of Denby why would he not put Denby.

On the plus side the 1851 occupation of "Pattern Designer - Fancy Woollens" is similar to 1841"Fancy Weaver". Also of interest is that in 1851 next door are John and Mary Beaumont. George was living with his parents in 1841. His father died in 1847 and his mother in 1850. Did he move to Almondbury after his father's death? Is his next door neighbour John Beaumont related to his mother - her brother maybe? Judging by his children's ages he married about 1848. The only freebmd entry is June 1849 with one of the four women on the page being Elizabeth Haigh. Haigh was a common name in the Denby area with two families on the same 1841 census page as George.

On the negative side George and Elizabeth's children are not Turton family names but then again they don't seem common names for the area at all.

Possible marriage but a bit late ....
