General Notes:
E M Gray arrived in Victoria from Scotland with his sister Ella per SS Cuzco in June 1885 and set up as a travelling salesman in Ararat before marrying Ann Cowie at Carlton in 1888
Before the 1914-18 war he had a DeDion-Bouton motor car to travel throughout western Victoria as a manufacturers representative. His two sons had belt-drive Indian motorbikes and could make Ararat to Ballarat in one hour.
Edward married Ann (Paul) Cowie, daughter of Alexander Cow and Williamina Hay, on 3 Mar 1888 in Carlton, Melbourne.1 (Ann (Paul) Cowie was born on 9 Feb 1861 in 62 Skene Square, Old Machar, Aberdeen 5 6 7 and died on 13 Dec 1941 in Malvern, Melbourne 8 9.)
Marriage Notes:
married by license at St Andrews Presbyterian Manse, Carlton, Victoria on 3/3/1888. Witnesses to my grandparents' marriage were my grandfather's sister Ella Gray and Alexander Boyd Galt.
